Shadow Yoga

According to Hatha Yoga anatomy, the body is composed of three discrete bodies and five sheaths, (coverings or shadows). The practice of Hatha Yoga has evolved with the purpose of dissolving these shadows.

Created by Zhander Remete, who was originally an Iyengar teacher, Shadow yoga is the culmination of many years of research on the roots of hatha yoga. Shadow yoga focuses on awakening the inner core of the body and the self, feeling alive and firm on the inside while remaining soft and responsive on the outside. The inner firmness will bring you in touch with your own creativity, taking your practice to a spiritual level, by placing a much greater emphasis on breath and inner work.

Shadow yoga is becoming increasingly popular among practitioners who would like to take their practice beyond alignment and flow. The core emphasis in beginning shadow yoga is the mastery of the preliminary forms and understanding of energetic principles through application of bandhas (core locks) and proper ujjayi breathing.

Who is Shadow yoga for?
