Shiva Yoga

Swami Shankarananda, a self-realized master of meditation and yoga, developed Shiva Yoga in the tradition of his guru, Swami Muktananda, as an approach to living with a high level of awareness, intelligence and compassion. The Shiva Yoga lineage is a living path of inner transformation, addressing our perpetual questions of our origin, destiny, purpose, the purpose of the cosmos, love and faith.

At its core, Shiva Yoga embraces Kashmir Shaivism, a philosophy that explains the spiritual experience and the practice of yoga. Shiva yoga describes Shiva as the destroyer of ignorance and suffering. Everything in creation is always changing and making way for something more. This is the energy of Shiva.

Through Shiva yoga, the student comes to realize that within the constant changes, it is the “constant” factor that holds the key. It is that constant that is and explains the universe, God and our role in life.
